What is JEE?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is one of India's most competitive engineering entrance exams, serving as the gateway to prestigious institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other top engineering colleges.

It is conducted in two stages:

  • JEE Main - Required for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions, and serves as the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced.
  • JEE Advanced - Conducted for students aiming to secure a seat in IITs and other premier engineering institutes.

JEE Main is the first phase of the engineering entrance examination, serving as the qualifying test for JEE Advanced. Only candidates who clear JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission into IITs.

The exam is computer-based and comprises two main papers:

  • Paper 1 - For admission to B.E./B.Tech programs in engineering colleges and universities recognized by the State Government. It also serves as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced.
  • Paper 2A & Paper 2B - Conducted for admission to B. Arch (Paper 2A) and B. Planning (Paper 2B) courses in India.
JEE Main Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for JEE Main must fulfill the following eligibility requirements as set by the National Testing Agency (NTA):
